The Congo fever or Crimean Congo hemorrhagic fever is caused by viruses, which enter the human body, colonize and multiply there.

The pathogenic virus was first isolated in 1956 from human blood in an area that is part of the Republic of the Congo today.

General symptoms

Diagnosis

The disease is diagnosed through the identification of the disease causing virus in the blood of the person concerned.

The virus can be detected directly or indirectly in specially oriented laboratories. The indirect detection via the identification of specific antibodies against the virus in the blood.

This can be detected from the sixth day of illness. The direct detection of the virus via PCR method.

Treatment tips

Specific therapy for the treatment of Crimean-Congo fever does not exist. The treatment is therefore mainly symptomatic.
